I have a love-hate relationship with Carioca fashion. I love some of the dress styles, and hate some of the others, that make you look like a fluorescent playing card. I love some of the skirts, though I feel like there is a shortage of good ones. I have mixed feelings about tops, which either try to accentuate cleavage or are so baggy they'd be perfect for a pregnant woman. Carioca fashion is a reflection of American fashion, though I find there are much cuter dresses here, with many more tropical colors and prints.
So let's take a look, shall we? It's Rio Fashion Week this week, so let's see what we have in store for "winter" fashion 08.
From DTA:
Let's pray that shirt says First or something else with "IRS" because "IRS Dance Class" is just too ridiculous. Leather boots like that are completely unnecessary 90% of the time in Rio, even in winter, but I love the idea of the skirt with the metallic colors in layers.
This dress is totally ruined matching it with black stockings, what appears to be a leotard, and socks with sandals. Socks should never ever go with sandals. But, I love the golden hues and the bodice is absolutely gorgeous.
Next up, we have Colcci. And hey look it's Gisele, actually modeling in her homeland!
Gisele, did you really come home to wear what looks like your grandma's curtains and lumberjack boots??
Though this one is mildly better--I like this metallic color theme we have going here--she looks like a bat or a winged animal with those ridiculous sleeves (or lack thereof).
Colcci dude--what is UP with the lumberjack inspiration? Of all of the people and things on this planet that should inspire fashion, lumberjacks should be the last on your list.
I like the idea of this dress, and love the color, but the belt looks like something used on mental patients, and her boots (with the high socks) look like old fashioned roller skates.
Victor Dzenk...
How many ways can you say no?
Flapper chic meets S+M??
For high class hos
And lastly, Tessuti.
Finally! Something classy AND wearable.
And check out the hot shoes.
