little stories

Last night Eli and I went to see Iron Man, and I was pleasantly surprised at how entertaining and well-done it was. On the way out, we were talking about it and I told him how I liked how they cast Robert Downey Jr instead of a cute but not so great actor, since they usually pick the cute actors to play superheroes. "No, you have it all wrong," he told me. "He played a really really rich guy, that's what matters. Only gay men like cute guys, women like rich guys." "I guess I'm a gay man then," I said.

This morning I encountered the tie-wearing dog again, except this time he was wearing a specially-made Brazil soccer jersey. Classy. Then I skirted two boxers lunging at each other, each held on a leash by young pretty Carioca women. One of them goes, "So we've bred him twice, so if you're ever interested, let me know! But I'm not going to lie to you, it was REALLY hard work."

I'm leaving a month from today and I am entering in actual 24 hour panic mode now. I wish I could see into the future to know that everything is going to work out.
