gossip
Naturally, when I was coming home without my camera, I stumbled through the novela set and all of the stars were doing a fight scene between two women. I watched one of the takes with a huge smile on my face because there is nothing more ridiculous than a fake cat fight in the middle of the street. The fugly Frankenstein male star was there too, even freakier-looking in real life than on TV.
So I came back here and grabbed my camera and went back through the set on my way to the grocery store. I got terrible pictures and all the stars had disappeared when I got back, though I did almost literally run into a famous Globo actor whose name I don't know but he is fat, in his 50s, has curly hair and almond-shaped eyes but isn't Asian. Anybody? I also passed the director, who was flipping out and screaming that he couldn't film but the sun was going down soon and he had scenes to finish.
At the supermarket, I encountered a new thing: the tomatao. Literally "big tomato," it is an enormous, frighteningly chunky tomato. I was going to buy one but they looked kind of gross. Also, on the way home I got a picture of Hortifruti's latest fake movie poster campaign. I love all of them, but this one is very cute too:

Hmm, curly hair? and almond shaped eyes? I have no idea. Was he from the novela? Now I'm curious, I looked at Beleza Pura's website and saw this guy (http://belezapura.globo.com/Novela/Belezapura/Personagens/0,,PS1926-10267,00.html)
Could it be him? But he doesn't look like he's in his 50's.
And I don't get why they still try to convince me on the website he's got "blue eyes and blond hair" when he clearly doesn't. Go figure.

It is amazing how we are fascinated by the make-believe. Last week they were filming near Bryant Park and you'd think aliens had landed and were doing some semi-religious dance and the locals could not get enough of it, meh.
We need to here more about how you got there as your fans are on edge in this real-life saga.

Hi, Rachel. I got to know your blog through Jeanne´s blog. As you are working as an English teacher, I was wondering if you give private English lessons as well. My family and I (husband and 15-year old daughter) are in the Immigration Process to Canada and I thought it would be good for my daughter to improve her English skills with a private teacher. She has been studying English since she was 4 years old, but language courses are not as good as the real thing - living in a foreign country, experiencing the real life. So I spoke to her English teacher at school and he suggested that in order to prepare her for the move to Canada, she should take private classes. And I agree with him, especially if such classes can be given by a native teacher. Well, let me know if you give private classes and if we could arrange something to make her English better!
Congrats on your blog! It´s pretty nice!
Thanks!
Andréa
